With a $20,000 grant from UNC's two-year Water In Our World theme, “100 Gallons” — the school's interactive Web experience that explores the human connection with water — will include local and regional topics during summer 2013.

Advanced Reporting: Who Owns Our Water?

During the fall 2014 semester, students in adjunct professor Roddy Boyd's MEJO 453: "Advanced Reporting" class explored the legal battle between aluminum manufacturer Alcoa and the state of North Carolina over rights to a portion of the Yadkin River in Stanly County.

Advertising students experience life in the fast lane

UNC MJ-school professor Dana McMahan's students accepted FOX Sports University's challenge of helping FOX Sports increase fan engagement with its promotion of NASCAR and the Daytona 500. After successfully pitching to FOX Sports and NASCAR, students attended the Daytona 500 to see their ideas in action. Astronaut Scholarship Foundation | Public Service Program

The Astronaut Scholarship Foundation, founded by the original Mercury astronauts Shepard, Glenn, Slayton, Schirra, Cooper and Carpenter, provides some of the largest individual merit awards in the US for the student of engineering, science and astronautics. 
All of the Apollo astronauts were trained in celestial navigation at UNC's Morehead Planetarium, beginning in 1960.

Bean & Leaf

Love coffee and tea? Bean & Leaf Magazine gives readers a unique look into the cafe culture. This issue features profiles on coffee shops in the southern U.S., a quiz to find out which tea is right for you, a tutorial on brewing your own sun tea and feature stories on fair trade coffee and sustainable tea. Created by students in the School of Journalism and Mass Communication at UNC-Chapel Hill, this magazine showcases digital media technology through iPad design.

Carolina Week is a student television news program broadcast from the School of Media and  Journalism Greene-Waters HD News Center. Carolina Week airs live on Monday at 5 p.m. during the fall and spring semesters on Time Warner Cable across Central and Eastern North Carolina.
