Carolina Photojournalism Workshop 2015: Rooted in the Rapids

UNC School of Media and Journalism students launched “Rooted in the Rapids” on Aug. 31, 2015, to tell the stories of the people and culture of the Roanoke River Valley of North Carolina through 15 short films.
Students and coaches traveled to the Roanoke Rapids area in mid-May 2015 after a 2-day video crash course in Carroll Hall.

Carolina Photojournalism Workshop 2016: Mountain Lore

UNC School of Media and Journalism students produced “Mountain Lore” to tell the stories of the people and culture of Jackson County, North Carolina, through 13 short films.
It is the 2016 edition of the annual Carolina Photojournalism Workshop project that was founded in 2004.
Each year, a group of UNC multimedia students travel to a unique part of North Carolina to produce a documentary website. Faculty and top industry professionals serve as coaches on the project.

Carolina Photojournalism Workshop 2017: River Reflections

UNC School of Media and Journalism students produced “River Reflections” to tell the stories of the people and culture of Elizabeth City, North Carolina, through 17 short films. The Pasoquotank river has provided life and leisure to the people of Elizabeth City for hundreds of years. From the heart of downtown to the winding country roads lined by waving crops, Elizabeth City has seen stories that plumb the depths of triumph, tragedy and the human spirit.
